Helpers Needed at the Opdahl Building This week!
Hi everyone,
Hope you had a nice holiday. I'd like to finish the floor at the Opdahl Building. I will be there Tuesday Dec. 29 at 9am and Thursday Dec. 31 at 9am. Any time that you can donate will be appreciated. There is something that everyone can do to help.
Tuesday morning we will need help to move the tables, chairs and workbenches onto the partial floor that is completed. Then we can continue with 'leveling' and installing the rest of the floor. There is plenty of light work for everyone to help keep the job moving along.
Thanks for everyone's help. Let's get the job finished this week!

Progress Report on the Floor at Opdahl's
Hi all,
I want to take a moment to thank everyone who showed up last Friday ready and willing to work! We had a good turnout throughout the work day Friday and everyone helped as much as they could. I've worked out all the soreness from the small exertion I made and hope all others are recovering as well. The picture shows the progress after two panels and already you can get an idea of how it is going to work out.
By the end of the day, about 5pm, we had completed 5 panels of flooring and cleaned up. The next step is to move the remaining workbenches and equipment onto the new floor so that we can complete laying the other 10 sheets and finish our goal (unless I've miscounted again)! It will probably not be totally completed in one more day although things were moving faster as the day progressed so there is always hope.
At this point I hope to get another workday perhaps Tuesday or Wednesday the week between Christmas and New Year's Day. Those dates are Dec. 29 and 30. The weather man is predicting warmer weather than we had. Please let me know by email if you can help out. (pchast@francomm.com)
Thanks again for all your help!
Happy Holidays,
Pete

Mid-Hudson Woodworkers Meeting December 17

What: Mid-Hudson Woodworkers Regular Meeting
When: Thursday December 17, 2009 at 7:30 PM
Where: Hurley Reformed Church
What's Happening?
This is the last meeting of 2009 and the holiday season is hard upon us. Bring your holiday gift projects for "Show and Tell".
Bob Lawless will give us a presentation on Windsor chairs. He took a class on Windsor chair making a few years ago which resulted in the piece shown in the picture. It is seen here on display at the Mid-Hudson Woodworkers Show 2007. It is an extremely comfortable chair to sit in. Maybe Bob will bring it so we can try it out.

Due to weather, the monthly KWA meeting for tonight has been canceled. We do plan to have the Learn and Turn on Saturday, but we will rename it the Shovel, Learn, and Turn. See you then...
